Green Deal Assessments conducted by Shirley Paterson – Green Deal Adviser from Fife
In brief, Green Deal Adviser Shirley Paterson visits homes to carry out Green Deal Assessments. After your property is surveyed she will prepare your Green Deal Advice Report (GDAR) consisting of 2 reports – an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and an Occupancy Assessment (OA).
A GDAR is a comprehensive report following a qualified Energy Adviser’s survey, which covers both your property’s construction and heating systems and your household’s use of energy. Your involvement is needed to complete the Occupancy Assessment. Much detailed data is recorded and incorporated into the compilation of this report, resulting in a valuable, meaningful report of recommendations which can go on to form your implementation plan of energy-saving home improvements.

Green Deal Assessment Benefits
The Green Deal Assessment helps you make wise choices about which energy-saving improvements to implement first – it will be clear which measures will make the largest reductions on your energy bills – the results at this stage often surprise customers! If you implement the recommendations, your home will use less energy, and you will enjoy lower energy bills. Result!
The report will provide indicative costs of the improvements recommended for your property, specific expected energy bill savings as a direct result of implementing those recommended improvements, and will also indicate what you could potentially earn tax-free via current incentives if you choose to have renewable technologies installed.
Only a qualified Green Deal Adviser can do a Green Deal Assessment and provide you with a Green Deal Advice Report – Shirley Paterson of nextGenergy is a Green Deal Adviser and will be delighted to work with you. A Green Deal Advice Report can be the pre-requisite required, essential for accessing Scottish government funding to support your energy-saving home improvements.
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) occasionally is sufficient, however a Green Deal Advice Report is more comprehensive, and with the longer GDA Report you also get the additional benefit of advice tailored for your household’s needs. Both reports are valid for 10 years.
